Services
The goal of Thompson Funeral Service is to serve you and your family with dignity, pride and honor while showing we care. We realize there is no typical funeral service and that each family has its own special needs, customs and traditions. We are dedicated to helping you create a final tribute for your loved one.
Funerals serve an important purpose: they allow us to recognize a life that was lived and acknowledge—that the life has come to an end. Funerals exist for the living, for the survivors who suffer the loss of a loved one. Like other rites of passage—graduation, weddings, baptisms, retirement celebrations—funerals help the living adjust to a major event and is the first step to a new, different way of living.
We understand that every family is different. Influences such as religious and cultural traditions, cost concerns and personal preferences make each funeral as unique as the person who is being honored. The funeral service should meet the needs of the family. Whether the service is religious or not, it may include musical numbers of particular meaning to the family or decedent, memoirs (also called eulogies) by family, friends, or the clergy, readings from Scriptures or other personal favorites, and stories. We believe every life should be celebrated through some type of meaningful service, whether elaborate or simple, brief or lengthy.
From a funeral at church or funeral home, in the woods or in the city park, the options are as wide as your mind. Maybe your loved one was an avid golfer, fisherman or gardener or quilter. We have had golf carts at the funeral, motorcycles, school buses, car haulers, wreckers, horse drawn carriages, quilts—just to name a few.
While it is quite normal to react with apprehension to the death of a loved one or friend and the necessary arrangements that follow, it is wise to consider the benefits of the funeral service in the grieving process. The funeral is an appropriate time to say good-bye which is important in beginning the healing process. It is wise to choose a funeral that best meets the needs of everyone in your family, after all the services you select is a statement that your family makes to the community.
